Yes, our welding leads are versatile and suitable for various types of welders, including MIG, TIG and Stick welders.
A standard welding earth clamp with a simple jaw works well on clean, flat steel, but spring-loaded or screw-type clamps usually give more consistent, low-resistance contact. Their higher clamping force bites through mill scale, paint or slight curvatures, reducing arc wander and overheating. It’s best to choose mechanical clamps when surface conditions are not ideal.
Voltage drop becomes noticeable when welding leads exceed roughly 15–20 metres for 35 mm² cable at 250 A. Heavier 70–95 mm² leads can stretch to 30 metres before arc stability suffers. As a rule, keep total lead length as short as practical and upsize cable cross-section whenever runs must exceed 20 metres.
