Coates offers crash cushions in both gated and non-gated versions. Gated cushions deflect the vehicle in a direction that points away from the protected area, while non-gated variants are designed to absorb impacts without directional release.
A crash cushion is engineered and constructed with materials that absorb energy in the event of a collision, reducing the force of the impact on the vehicle, its occupants and people in the surrounding area. They form an integral part of roadside safety systems, protecting both road users and construction workers carrying out necessary tasks.
Our crash cushions are certified in accordance with MASH standards, meaning they have been rigorously tested to meet strict safety requirements. Some crash cushions with a MASH TL-3 rating are certified for use in speed zones up to 100 km/h, while others are capped at 80 km/h. For more information, contact a Traffic Product Specialist.
