FAQs

Trailer mounted boom lifts use an extendable arm to vertically and horizontally move a working platform that can be used to accommodate personnel and equipment. Easily towed behind a vehicle, cherry pickers offer efficient transportation, making them ideal for jobs involving multiple smaller tasks or sites.

You need a High-Risk Work Licence (WP class) to operate a cherry picker with a boom length of 11m or more. For smaller cherry pickers, while a licence isn't required for boom lift hire under 11m, an EWP (Elevated Work Platform) Yellow Card is recommended and you must ensure operators know how to operate the scissor lift safely with the right training, information and instruction.

Trailer mounted boom lifts can be towed behind a wide range of vehicles, such as utes and vans, provided they have the appropriate towing capacity. If you are in doubt as to whether your vehicle can tow a specific cherry picker, always check the manufacturer's guidelines for both the boom lift and your vehicle to ensure safe towing.
